Discover Unreleased Music and Share It With Your Friends With HotDrop

HotDrop launches a new library for full-length tracks, sharing capabilities, and artist analytics.

Declared an app to help music listeners and fans discover music in new ways by the Wall Street Journal, HotDrop has expanded their platform to include natural discovery tools that mimic how listeners find and share new music. Their latest update comes with some exciting new features, including a library, sharing capabilities, and artist analytics.

“There is so much music out there to discover,” says Steven Segel, Co-founder and COO at HotDrop. “These features come highly anticipated by our users; they’re already sharing new music with their friends and supporting these emerging artists. This release delivers critical features to drive the viral growth of artists on HotDrop, allowing artists to see fans appreciating and discovering their music around the world in real-time.”

Listeners can store full-length versions of songs they discover through HotDrop in the all-new user library. This library is unlike that of the streaming services, as unreleased songs or exclusive versions or remixes can be stored in a listener’s library without the need to be distributed to DSPs. Artists can make changes to songs, or delete songs entirely, as they see fit.

Highly anticipated sharing comes to HotDrop through updated external and internal links. Users can seamlessly share links to songs they discover via text or messaging platforms like Snapchat. By sharing, friends gain direct listening access to the full song – sharing by link is the only way for friends to immediately find a song or artist on HotDrop. HotDrop facilitates discovery, and through sharing this discovery can now be done by word of mouth.

HotDrop has also launched analytics within their HotDrop Studio for artists, including data on listens, total listening time, and total likes and shares. This feature will continue evolving, as the HotDrop development team plans to announce additional analytical insights in the near future.

“We will continue to build HotDrop to be Gen Z’s music discovery tool,” says Max Goldberg, Co-founder and CEO of HotDrop. “We want to deepen 1-on-1 conversations between artists and fans, and build a social ecosystem for artists and fans to discover each other.”

HotDrop’s co-founders Segel and Goldberg participated in The Roux Institute’s Techstars Accelerator in Q3 and Q4 of 2022. They presented in the accelerator’s Demo Day on December 15, 2022.
